Searching for a Fossils and Archeology Mod download brings up dozens of sites, and not all of them are honest. This guide shows where the official files live, how to pick the right one in under a minute and how to confirm the file is genuine.

Where the official files are

The Revival team publishes builds on two platforms: Modrinth and CurseForge. The source code lives on GitHub. These three places are the only sources you need, and our download page links straight to them.

Modrinth

Modrinth shows every version with its loader and Minecraft version clearly tagged. Each file page lists a SHA-256 hash you can check. The Modrinth App can also install the mod and its dependencies for you.

CurseForge

CurseForge carries the same builds plus the legacy 1.12.2 and 1.7.10 files. It works well if you already use the CurseForge app for your modpacks.

Choosing the right file

Every file name contains three things: the mod version, the loader and the Minecraft version. Match the last two to your setup and take the newest mod version available.

  • Playing Forge 1.20.1? Take the newest Forge 1.20.1 file.
  • Playing Fabric 1.19.2? Take the newest Fabric 1.19.2 file.
  • Running an old pack? Use the 1.12.2 or 1.7.10 build listed for it.

Do not forget dependencies

Download Architectury, GeckoLib and More Hitboxes for the same game version. Add TerraBlender on Forge, or Fabric API and the Fabric TerraBlender build on Fabric.

How to verify your download

Verification takes thirty seconds and protects your PC. Copy the SHA-256 value from the Modrinth file page, then run a hash check on your file.

Windows: certutil -hashfile fossil-forge-1.20.1.jar SHA256
macOS: shasum -a 256 fossil-forge-1.20.1.jar
Linux: sha256sum fossil-forge-1.20.1.jar

If the two values match, the file is exactly what the team uploaded.

Red flags to avoid

Leave any site that offers an .exe installer, asks you to disable antivirus, hides the download behind surveys or requires payment. The real mod is always a free .jar file.

After the download

Drop the files into your mods folder and launch the matching loader profile. Our installation guide covers each platform step by step, and the FAQ answers the questions most players ask after their first launch.
